AGRAND GROUP gathered at the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Northeastern New York to welcome Eddie Chamberlain '36 from Hanover and to greet the freshmen basketball team.
After watching the yearlings shellack Albany Academy, the Dartmouth cheering section moved with alacrity to the Colonic Country Club where Henry Oppenheim had made his usual arrangements for a perfect meal.
The freshmen squad were guests and added materially to the good spirit of the meeting. President Jim Pelletier appointed as nominating committee Art Hopkins 'OB, Bob French '19 and Nat Harmon '23. Nominations were soon returned and the usual white ballot cast for the following slate:
President, Bill Gates '36; Vice President, Doug "Kelly" Hamilton '35; Secretary, Pren Carnell '26: Treasurer, Henry Oppenheim '18.
The Executive Committee is jack Curtin '16, Schenectady; Jim Pelletier '19, Albany; Brad Carnell '30, Albany; JoeSwensson '34, Troy; and Bob Kittell '36, Troy.
Eddie Chamberlain, assistant dean of the freshmen and junior varsity football coach, then spoke most interestingly. His comments on the selective process were particularly thought provoking. Football movies were then shown and the meeting resolved itself into a round table discussion with Chamberlain answering questions from the crowd.
It was particularly gratifying at the meeting to note the number of miscellaneous outsiders in attendance. There were several from other colleges, a sprinkling of coaches, and teachers, sub-freshmen and an assorted group of those who just plain came for a good time.
