HAVING BEEN UNABLE TO ATTEND an unusually interesting dinner meeting of the Club in January, the secretary is indebted to Art Flinner '35 for this account of it. We had as guests 7 prospective Dartmouth students, 5 of whom came from Gilman Country School accompanied by Don Hoffman '11, long a familiar figure on the Gilman campus. Don's Dartmouth loyalty is well demonstrated by the interest created among the boys out there. The whole group was one of the finest we have ever met and added much to a very enjoyable meeting. After dinner George Parkhurst '30 extolled the merits of Dartmouth in winter with a rousing description of skiing on Mt. Washington. "Mutt" Ray '37, recently transferred to Baltimore by Underwood-Elliott Fisher, discussed football and baseball at Dartmouth. This was our first good chance to sound him out on his football experiences, and it was a full hour before he could stop our questions. We heard all about his trip west to play in the East-West game, several good anecdotes about his Yale contemporary, Larry Kelly, and a lot of favorable comment on Dartmouth's coaching staffs in baseball as well as football. The success of the evening was attested by the Gilman boys, who prevailed upon Don Hoffman to let them stay out late.
