Memorial Service
May 1940

AN ALUMNI CHAPEL service in memory of . Craven Laycock '96 will be held in Rollins Chapel on Sunday, June 16, at 12:30 P.M. The memorial address will be given by a graduate of the College whose name will be announced in the next issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Music by the Glee Club will be under the direction of Professor Donald E. Cobleigh '23.

It was recently the proposal of the class of 1925 that alumni of all reuning classes, but especially among the younger classes, would enjoy a service in the chapel during the Commencement week-end. Dean Laycock was invited to speak at the service and had accepted. The plan now is to devote the alumni chapel service to a tribute to Dean Laycock by alumni and their families who are in Hanover.

The atmosphere of the days of required daily chapel will be recaptured, in keeping with old traditions, by ringing the chapel bells in advance of the beginning of the memorial service. The final series of sixteen single strokes at 12:30 will culminate in barring the doors of the chapel against late comers, following the custom of earlier years. All alumni and members of their families are invited to participate in the service June 16.
