MORE THAN 250 student delegates gathered in Hanover on Saturday, April 13, for the tenth annual meeting of the Connecticut Valley Student Scientific Conference. The Dartmouth Undergraduate Scientific Society played host for the conference, at which some 58 papers and 62 demonstrations were presented by undergraduates in the fields of botany, zoology, geology, chemistry, physics, psychology, home economics, mathematics and astronomy. Ten papers and six demonstrations were given by Dartmouth students.

Dean E. Gordon Bill gave the address of welcome to the conference delegates and Dr. Alex Laurie, professor of floriculture at Ohio State University, gave the in the Greenhouse." Member institutions represented were Connecticut College, University of Connecticut, Massachusetts State College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Trinity College, Wesleyan University, Williams College, and Dartmouth. Visitors also attended from Colby, Middlebury, New Hampshire, Vermont, and St. Anselms.

The Connecticut Valley Student Scientific Conference was founded at Mt. Holyoke ten years ago for the purpose of providing a scientific forum for undergraduates engaged in research and investigation. It was one of the first scientific societies of its kind and has since been used as a model for colleges in other parts of the country.
