Roy Deferrari, Secretary General of the Catholic University, Washington, D. C., opened the 53rd year of that Institution on September 22. The one aim of the College is to stress training for higher education. Its eleven divisions enroll over 2200 students, 65 per cent of whom go on to graduate work. Your Secretary had the pleasure of a delightful lunch hour with Dr. Deferrari the other day and found him eager to hear of classmates.
Boss Geller writes that the "30th" is the next event. Why not pick out your best college friend and see to it that he comes with you. Boss says that he wouldn't have attended the 25th if he hadn't received several letters urging him to attend, and he had one grand time.
A1 Eiseman is Public Relations Manager of the Postal Telegraph Company at 253 Broadway, New York City, and living at 21 East 87th Street. His daughter, Ann Loring, attended Finch Junior College and Pembroke, and is now interested in publicity promotion, fashions and China Relief. A 1 Jr., graduated from Dartmouth in 1940 cum laude. He was Green Key and President of the Players. He is now taking a postgraduate agricultural course at Cornell, and a Naval Reserve midshipman course. Your Secretary and George Morris '11 enjoyed an excellent lunch at Al's expense the other day.

Paul Jones is jack-of-all trades in the Windham, Vermont, Congregational Church. He is janitor, plays the organ, and recently preached a sermon.
Bob Kirkpatrick writes that Eddie Daley and a sister who lives in Detroit made a nice call on him in Birmingham, Michigan.
Barrow Lyons and your Secretary had a fine lunch together. Barrow came to Washington in December 1938, as associate financial economist for the S.E.C. He has been Senior information specialist with O.E.M. and since February in the investment banking section of the Temporary National Economic Commission. Barrow's daughter, Mavis, aged 25, spent two years at Wisconsin University and one at Swarthmore, and is a commercial photographer in New York. Jane is a graduate of the University of Vermont, 1941. Barrow married a second time to Ruth Vorhis at Seattle, Washington, in September 1934.
Your Secretary saw Jackson McCoy's brother the other day and learned that his son Bob is a Junior at Wisconsin, Louise a high school Senior and Jane is aged 12. Jackson is publisher and General Manager of the Waterloo Courier.
Doc O'Connor made an address on the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis on August 28 at the Institute of Human Relations at Williamstown, Massachusetts. Doc has compiled and published a list of available "iron lungs" for use in emergencies. His article on "Constitutional Protection of the Alien's Right to Work" was published in the May issue of New YorkUniversity Law Quarterly Review. Doc was one of the principal speakers on August 29 at Ponquoque Point, Hampton Bays, L. 1., and paid glowing tribute to the Coast Guard. Incidentally, on September 14 the O'Connor Hurricanes licked the Mooney Mighty Maulers in one of the fastest and best played games of the local softball season, the Maulers being held well under control by Doc's slants.
Ernie Stowell is with the Labor Division of the 0.P.M.. promoting training of industrial workers in defense industries. He is District Representative for Rhode Island and Connecticut. Son Douglas is on the football squad at Dartmouth and out for guard. He is a Senior. Ernestine Jr., is at Mt. Holyoke.
Doc Viets had dinner with your Secretary the other day. Doc has recently published The War of 1812 and the Marine Hospitalfor the Port of Boston, and Notes on "Collected Papers."

Stan Weld has published "Early Medical Practice in Hartford County." He and Doc Viets helped run the 25th reunion of Harvard Medic 1916, last June. Barbara is a Senior at Connecticut College. Bob won his letter in football and basketball at Tabor and finished the year by pitching and playing Ist Base. Dave won his letter on the Choate Golf team and won the championship again at Great Chebeague, Maine, Golf Club, breaking the course record four under par.
Jim Erwin's daughter, Elizabeth Burleigh, was married on Sept. 13, 1941, at Englewood, N. J., to James R. Robinson.
Ben Adams' daughter, Miriam, was married on Sept. 6, 1941, at East Derry, N. H., to Elbridge Howard Preston.
