FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN workmen in defense industries near the College are enrolled in the free evening courses in engineering, science and management which faculty members of Thayer and Tuck Schools and of the College are offering in Springfield, Vt., and in Hanover this fall as part of the defense training program of the U. S. Office of Education. The six courses being given in Springfield and the two in Hanover will continue until February.

Dartmouth professors who are commuting to Springfield to teach evening courses in general accounting, cost accounting, foremanship training, engineering metals, strength of materials, and organization and management, are Profs. William P. Kimball '28, Edward S. Brown Jr. '34, and Kenneth K. Edgar of Thayer School and Profs. Charles W. Sargent '15, John P. Troxell, and Charles J. Gaa of Tuck School.

The Hanover courses in engineering drawing and radio engineering are being taught by Prof. Fred F. Parker '06 of the Graphics department and Millett G. Morgan of the Thayer School staff. Dean Frank W. Garran of Thayer School is in general charge of the Engineering, Science, Management Defense Training program.

Enrollment in the defense courses is as follows: General accounting, 34; cost accounting, 32; foremanship training, 86; engineering metals, 55; strength of materials, 60; organization and management, 86; engineering drawing, 43; radio engineering, 20.
