Charles B. Gaynor '29 has, apparently, done it again. Lend An Ear is what he calls his latest musical show. With Sheila Barrett and Dorothy Fox, dancer, to give it Broadway flavor, it was tried out at a summer theatre near Boston in August and got rave notices after only two weeks of rehearsal. "Audiences," wrote one Boston critic, "were moved to tears. They laughed till they cried. They sat through the most appalling heat, on at least one evening, hardly noticing the temperature." Rumor has it that New York may be asked to lend its ear this winter.
Gaynor's latest song and dance follows the conventional revue pattern. His cast is small for a musical, around fifteen, but he works them hard. And he worked hard himself at the piano. The show is a happy mixture of dramatic sketches, burlesques, black-outs, impersonations, as well as tunes and dances of all types.
"He is not known on Broadway," said the Post. "He will be though. .... His was a far more amusing show in its imperfect state than many that have found favor in New York."
