A pleasant visit with "Skid" brought out the fact that while he seemed about as usual and apparently holding his own, he had a bad day in January at a time when his regular physician was ill. However, this regular physician sent, to attend "Skid", a substitute, Dr. Blood, Dartmouth Medical 1913, and just now GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire. Incidentally, '93 is represented in Concord, New Hampshire, indirectly by Natt Burbank, superintendant of schools. He is the nephew of '93's Dr. Burbank.
"Skid" also informs me that "Quin" Eaton's sister died recently at the family's ancestral home, "Eaton Grange," Sutton, New Hampshire.
"Sam" Hunt seems to have fully recovered from his operations. He is home from the hospital, and has been attending various director's meetings which come at this time of the year; he is looking well.
A letter from Mrs. Goss indicates that all is well with her and son Lane, Dartmouth 1925, and his family. Lane is an important banker in Worcester, Mass., but at the time of the letter was in Washington. Mrs. Lane expects to be at the Carolina Inn, Chapel Hill, North Carolina for a part of the winter. She writes that she received her usual, fine New Year's letter from "Shorty" Bowers.
At the Boston Alumni Banquet held February 4th which, in reality, was a great ovation to "Tuss" McLoughrey, our new football coach, President Cox and your acting Secretary represented '93. Guy reported that he had luncheon the day before with "Billy" Jarvis, who seemed to be in fine fettle. We learn that the Rotary Club of Manchester, Vermont made a special occasion of the Judge's 70th birthday on January 7th, and the Judge responded with a poem of ten stanzas of four lines each. Have room for last stanza only:— "So now you see before you The proof that I am right. If I had not been so virtuous I might not be here tonight." (Complete poem sent on request.)
You all remember Lilley Eaton, Dartmouth "Medic" '93. He is now located at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where your acting Secretary hopes to visit him some time during the last week of February. Mrs. Eaton died last November at Post Mills, Vermont where they had been spending the summer.
Secretary, 795 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, Mass.
