THE MEETING of Central and Southwestern New York Alumni at Ithaca January 18 was considered at midnight to have been a highly successful affair.

The party was scheduled to begin at 6:45 with a dinner in Willard Straight Hall, but actually began with a complete lack of formality when groups from Syracuse, Binghamton, Auburn and Ithaca "accidentally" met in the tap room fully an hour before the scheduled meeting. The ultimate success of the party was early determined by this accident.

Brief words from Coach Ossie Cowles highlighted the dinner, and co-operation between several members of the local alumni and Assistant Director Kane of Cornell's Athletic department resulted in a contingent of forty alumni rooters forming a cheering section from some of the best seats in a sold-out house.

Beer and oyster stew removed the hoarseness from alumni throats at Straight after the game, and after Stu MacMackin and Jimmy Buyoucos '36 swiped a piano, an old fashioned Dartmouth party resulted. Discovered under the stands was R. G. Geller 'l2, who turned out to be a mean hand at the ivories, and he, with Buyoucos, provided the music. Songs and the passing of the bowl completed the evening.

Among those present at one time or the

other during an evening that saw the group constantly expanding were the following: Bob Sullivan '40 and Doc Childs '35 of Buffalo, Bob Westover '38, Charlie Flood '31, Don Gilpin '40, Ben Stone, George Lehmann '01, Jack Maloney '31, Bill Morton '28, Bill Koppenhafer, Ardie Spring '35, Cort Horr '18 all of Syracuse, Sid Curtis '39, Dick Stowell '36 of Binghamton, R. G. Geller '12, Bill Geller '45, John Watkins '45 of Oswego, Philip Lawer '30, Mary Lawer, Smith '38, Nancy Lawer, State '28 of Auburn. Stu MacMackin '36 of Canojahara, Hank Smith '33, Helen Smith, Cornell '33, James Buyoucos '36, Dan Avery '13, Vic Cutter '38, Pete Patterson '39, Don Wilson '38, Don Ramie '40, Van Lee '39, Gus Zitrides '39, Bill "Papa" Deal '39, and Stan Brown '39.

Watch this column for announcements concerning the Ithaca Alumni Club parties. Plans are now contemplated for calling the clan together for a picnic party when Dartmouth plays Cornell in baseball this spring."
