FRIDAY, MARCH 21, was very much of a Dartmouth day in Baltimore. At noon about a dozen of us were guests of Mr. Godine, Maryland agent of the National Life Insurance Company of Vermont, at a luncheon in honor of Dr. Andrew (Swede) Oberlander '36, now Assistant Medical Director of the Company. The only other guests were the men connected with the agency. There was no formality—just friendly conversation over a very good lunch—and all present greatly appreciated this opportunity to meet the genial and modest doctor.
That same evening we had a progressive Dartmouth dinner party, with appetizers at the Ekin's, soup at the Grant's, salad at the Burke's, main course at the Soule's, icecream and coffee at the Kenney's, and finishing touches at the McCarthy's; a unique experience for most of us, and enthusiastically enjoyed by all. This variation on our annual Ladies' Night was conceived and skillfully executed by our Entertainment Chairman, Bob Ekin '37, with the able cooperation of his charming wife and the other hosts and hostesses. Actual expenses were shared by the participants, but it was the delightful hospitality of the homes thrown open to us that made the party the great success it was.
