Terry and Mary McGaughan went to the big reunion of Terry's WW II navy squadron VPB 128 in Genessee, Colo., last September. The squadron was stationed first at Floyd Bennet Field, then in the South Pacific. There were 20 pilots and 17 wives present. Twelve pilots were lost in the war and ten died later. The highlight of the reunion was a big closing dinner at the Chief Hosa Lodge. Pilot Snyder called Terry their "spiritual head, the adhesive force that held us all together." The term "father confessor" was used over and over, always with respect. Terry and Mary spoke on demand and received great ovations.
Kudos are due Bill Bois for the long years, through '91, that he served in exemplary fashion as our treasurer. We are fortunate that Ellie Norris could take over; she is well qualified and doing a superb job. Bill took HavenBlake Groentz, Marian Abel and FrancesZahm to lunch at the Hillsboro Club, which he used to manage in Florida. Such lunches are a frequent event with all four, much to the women's delight.
Molly Bates had a successful cornea transplant in early February and is thrilled to have perfect vision now. She had her first golf just before the operation, which set her right up. Thought for the month: remember how in March the duckboards came up, while the fog came down on the campus.
