Upon the death of Judge Cohen '79 we said in these columns nearly three years ago: "Judge Cohen achieved great distinction in his profession of the law. He was very generous in sharing his success with College. His influence and example have been great and good in affairs of both the distinguished class of '79 and the College."

News of Judge Cohen's munificent bequest was carried in the papers last month. Although the long process of tax settlement is drawing to a close the bequest has not yet been consummated. Treasurer Edgerton warns us that the press figures of $1,500,000 are high, probably by several hundred thousands of dollars. It is now definite, however, that the Judge's great generosity will be available to strengthen the College. The terms of his gift are of maximum helpfulness. He did not restrict the use of the funds except that at least part of them should be devoted to helping poor boys.
