LAST CALL FOR OUR BIG 15th!
Everything is all set for the biggest and best reunion not only for 1926 but for the entire history of Dartmouth College. The reunion committee, under the very able leadership of Bob Salinger, has prepared a program that you cannot afford to miss. Of course, a very representative number of the Class has already signed up. They join us in urging the rest of you to get on the band wagon. We'll be seeing you June 20-23!
A few Wah-Who-Wahs are in order this month for the following: Hugh Morrison for his splendid series of reminiscences in the Class bulletin—All our Yesterdays
George Alger, who was appointed manager of the Conservation Bureau of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce Ken Weeks, for sending us the news about George Dr. Morris Storer, for his two day series of lectures at the University of New Hampshire. Morrie, who has established an enviable reputation as a social science lecturer, is with the U. S. Department of Agriculture Ken Andler, for his article Town House which appeared in the April issue of the New HampshireTroubadour.
Ed Fowler (Dr. Edmund P., M.D. to you) has again contributed to the CanadianMedical Journal. This time on "the bacteriology of acute otitis media and its course under new and old methods of treatment."
Of Dick Eberhart we learn that he is giving the Phi Beta Kappa poem at Tufts college on May 21st. Last year it was given by Robert Frost. If you would like to hear him delivering his own poems, it is now possible, as Harvard has issued, for sale, two 12" recordings.
We received a very nice letter from Harold "Tref" Trefethen who, as we announced last month, is Captain of Artillery at Fort Sill, Okla. We quote:
"With the 15th coming up and receiving so much attention in my mail, I realize how much I want to make it. But it looks impossible at this distance.
"Having been in the National Guard for several years, I was called in Federal service as a Captain of Field Artillery in January. I came out here to the Officers' School in March for a three months' course. It certainly is difficult to get back to school after so many years.—They pass out the material here at a speed which surpasses anything that we ever saw from 'Cheerless' Richardson or any of the others in Hanover. It isn't their fault if you are not a full-fledged officer when you get through.
"I ran across some old tracks of Larry Oatman when I met an officer from Anadarko, Okla. who rooms next to me here.
"I expect now and hope to get back to Massachusetts (Camp Edwards) about the middle of June—but I am afraid that leave for Commencement is going to be impossible."
Ralph and Helen Bristol, as you know, are hosts at the "West Shore Lodge" on Rangeley Lake, at Oquossoc, Maine. We recently received a letter from Ralph stating that the fishing is good, the meals excellent and the hospitality warm. We suggest that any '26ers in the vicinity of Rangeley stop off at "West Shore Lodge" (ADV.).
We have been tossing Wah-Who-Wahs around quite generously this month but the loudest and most enthusiastic one goes to Prexy Hopkins upon the 25th Anniversary of his Inauguration as President of the College. As you all know, the Alumni Fund this year is dedicated as a tribute to Prexy. It then logically follows that your Wah-Who-Wah for Prexy can best be heard through the medium of a generous contribution to the Fund. A 1 Louer and his splendid group of assistants have been on the job to keep '26 at the head of the list. Let us all get behind them 200%!
And now comes the time for your scribe to sing his swan song. Upon the publication of the next issue of this MAGAZINE, you will have a new Secretary-Chairman. Really, fellows, it has been perfectly grand to work with and for you during the past five years. I will miss corresponding with so many of you but the conviction that you will back up my successor makes the parting easier. We have come a long way in Class organization, interest and service to the College. It will continue to grow in direct proportion to each individual classmate's effort and interest. So let's all remember those monthly magazine deadlines, the alumni fund, class dinners, reunions, etc
