Bank Conference
June 1941

THE TUCK SCHOOL played host on May 16 and 17 to the second New Hampshire Bank Management Conference. Sponsored jointly by Tuck School and the New Hampshire Bankers Association, the twoday session, like that in Hanover last year, was a working conference for policy-making bank executives of the state.

President Hopkins spoke at the closing banquet, on the subject "Defense Against What?" Prof. W. Barton Leach of Harvard Law School also spoke at the Thayer Hall banquet, his subject being "Sabotage in the United States."

National defense topics filled an important part of the conference program. Dartmouth faculty members conducted a panel discussion on "Democracy and the National Defense Program," under the auspices of the American Defense Dartmouth Group, and one of the major conference topics was the financing of defense contracts. Lt. Col. J. S. Crawford of the U. S. Army Ordnance Department was a guest speaker at the latter session.

Halsey C. Edgerton 'O6, treasurer of the College, and Donald Barr 'lB, assistant treasurer, participated in the discussions on investments. Prof. G. Walter Woodworth was chairman of the Tuck School committee in charge of the conference.
