DR. RICHARD L. WEAVER, who since 1938 has been the very successful College Naturalist, left Dartmouth on October 15 to accept appointment as Associate Professor of Biology at the University of New Hampshire. Since coming to Dartmouth, Dr. Weaver has done much to increase the interest of students and faculty in the study of nature, he has been active in vari- ous state programs for conservation educa- tion, and has written numerous articles on the subject. It is expected that under his direction the University will extend throughout the state its conservation and recreation educational program.
Dr. Weaver holds degrees from Pennsylvania State College and Cornell University. He taught nature study and related subjects in public schools, at Plymouth Teachers College, and at the Oglebay Nature Training School in West Virginia, before coming to Hanover. Part of the work of the Naturalist will be carried on temporarily by the President and Secretary of the Natural History Club under the guidance of a faculty committee.
