A RECENT NEWS ITEM, datelined London, announces the death in action of William Legge, Viscount Lewisham, only son of the Earl and Countess of Dartmouth. The 29-year-old heir to the title was with the British Expeditionary Force in Egypt. Lord Lewisham was the eighth Earl of Dartmouth, the great-great-great-greatgrandson of the second Earl of Dartmouth, whose money helped to found Dartmouth College and for whom it was named. The present Earl, Lord Lewisham's father, is the one who visited Hanover in 1904 when the cornerstone of Dartmouth Hall was laid. Next in line is an uncle, Commander Humphrey Legge, D.5.0., a retired naval officer, who fought in the Battle of Jutland in World War I.
