In a recent letter Holmes says in part: "There is not much to say. After working for forty-one years continuously for the Western Electric Co. I retired in October, 1931 and since then have not had to work for a living.

"I have worked, but only for fun; as you well know it is fun to work.

"We have a cottage on the shore of Lake Ripley, about twenty-two miles east and a little south of Madison, Wis.

"The name of the Town is Cambridge. It is situated in a beautiful dairy country. We live there from June to October. The remainder of the time we live at our La Grange residence.

"They are about 125 miles apart, just a nice drive; cement roads all of the way. There are just Mrs. Holmes and myself. As a hobby I used to have photography and flower culture but as I grew older I had to give up the latter, and have taken up painting with oils to replace the photography. It is a lot of fun, although I am not a 'child wonder.' I paint landscapes but some are better than others. This is about all of my life that will be of any interest to others. With the New Year's greetings to all, Heavy."....

John McDonald, the Secretary and Arthur D. Gaul, our "adopted" member, represented the Class at the Alumni Dinner, Feb, 4, in Boston. It was a very pleasant occasion, as usual Hilton is expected East soon on business The Class Secretary will retire to private life Mar. 2nd and although in excellent health he "did not choose to run again" for Town Treasurer. Twenty-one years seems long enough
