A year or two ago Harold Morse of Cleveland wrote me of his dream that his son having graduated from Thayer School was to take over in his architectural engineering business and allow him to salvage what enjoyment in life remained. A recent letter from the same source tells how the dream vanished when the Great WhiteFather said, "I need such men as you." And so Harold is working harder than ever on defense work and motor freight terminals. The latter seems to be his specialty at present for he has just completed his 42nd terminal. Judging from photographs enclosed the H. M. Morse 8c Co. have done some mighty fine work. While on a business trip to Buffalo "Pudge" called on Harold Plummer, T. S. 1903, who is engaged in similar line of work, and the two Harolds had a regular old time Dartmouth gab fest.
Dan Hinckley of the advertising department of Plough, Inc. of Memphis, Tenn., writes most interestingly of his activities in the business world and of his family. Elizabeth, in her junior year at Southwestern, and David, just completing his high school course, have been giving Dan quite a lift in life. David, just turned 17, is musical like his Dad and has done well scholastically. He has played center on his high school football team and this fall was named the most valuable player by his coach and teammates. His place is in Dartmouth next fall, Dan, thereby completing the lift he has already started for you.
The Alumni Office has once more performed the impossible. It has ferreted out the whereabouts of Jim Cresswell. His address is 2010 Fort Worth Bank Bld'g, Fort Worth, Texas. Frank Drown, Statistician, can be reached at Philadelphia, Box 5606. George Hoke lives on Route 2, Park Rapids, Minn.
J. Wm. MacLennan, though retired now 20 years, reports a very busy life in and about Montecito, Calif. Engaging himself in the interests of art, literary and musical groups, lecturing and cultivating his physical stamina in his extensive lawns and gardens, Bill finds the greatest interest in life. Mrs. MacLennan, a painter of international note, a member of the National Asso. of Women Painters, interested in the Santa Barbara Art Museum, Community Theatre, Civic Opera Asso., Symphony Orchestra and the Women's Club, proves a worthy partner in Bill's leisure years. Bill wishes to be remembered to all the class and hopes that he may visit New England before long.
