A year ago, as the baby among graduate classes, 1940 made a pretty poor showing in the Alumni Fund campaign; this year, as the sophomore class among the graduate classes, 1940 must show the College that, 625 strong, we are as loyal as any class of the College. To insure a successful campaign, the College has invested the responsibilities of Class Agent in the capable hands of Jack Rourke; Jack's headquarters are at the Columbia Broadcasting System, 485 Madison Ave., New York City, and although you will be formally (and informally) solicited by him soon, be sure to mail him your contribution at once, especially if you you feel that you may not be in a position to contribute at a later date due to troop movements or to other causes.
It is with deep regret that I report the deaths of two members of our young class: David Meinhardt and John Lamb; both of these boys—one already in the service and the other awaiting his commission—were to be married in the near future, and their fiancees will share with the Class a keen sense of the real loss that their sudden deaths have created. Complete notices are printed in the Necrology Section.
I DO: John Heneage and Judy Flack, of Potsdam, N. Y., and the gay guest of many a Dartmouth party. Robert Wetzler, of the Grumman Aircraft Corp., to Miss Audrey Mayforth of Skidmore. Jack Hannestad, who is working with a shipbuilding concern in Philly and living in Broomall, Pa., to Miss Marjorie Stewart. Chud Bensinger to Miss Babbsie Harrison; fragmentary reports reveal only that the Naval Supply Corps has called Chud away after he and Babbsie were just settling in Philadelphia. Back in November, Dink Weiner was married, with quite a contingent of '4O on hand to help this Bethlehem Steel ace go down the aisle: Bob Reid, Chet Bensinger,Bud Czerny, and Mike Carlson, who is working with the Heil Cos., in Milwaukee. A news clipping informed me that on March 21st, in Decatur, Ala., Phil Huffman of the Army Air Corps was to be married to Miss Ann Wyper of West Hartford, Conn.

A release from Fort Benning, Ga. makes interesting reading: "Sgt. Lester Nichols carried away from Hanover a little of that Dartmouth spirit and injected it into the 41st Armored Infantry. For as director of the athletic program of the 'Fightin' 41st, the Dartmouth graduate has made his outfit the most feared and talked about in the division."
The executive committee of the Class of 1940 has chosen the writer as the new Secretary-Chairman of the class to succeed Tom Braden "for the duration of the war"; I shall attempt to keep all of you informed of each other's activities, but it will help greatly if you all will, as Rourke so classically says it, "keep in touch"—and with Rourke, too, NOW.
