FOUR OUT OF FIVE Dartmouth graduates of 1942 have gone directly into military service or expect to be in uniform within a month, it has been disclosed in a survey by the Personnel Bureau. Ninety of the 444 men who received degrees on May 10 are yet to be heard from, but since they are mostly men already in service the mark of 82% should go slightly higher.
Of the 354 men who have reported their military status, 266 have al- ready enlisted or are about to, and another 26 are entering the Army through selective service. Among the 266 enlistees, 138 of whom have al- ready been sworn in, the Navy leads with 143 men. Following in order are the Army with 99, the Marines with 15, the American Field Service with 4, and the Coast Guard with 3. One 1942 graduate is joining the R.A.F. and another will report to the Cuban army.
Graduate studies, war industries, and 4-F deferments account for many of the '42 men not listed among the 8a per cent.
