To the Limit
June 1942

AT THE FOLLOWING WEEK-END when the crowd of men and families of reuning classes, and the several groups of class officers and members of the Alumni Council,

"took Hanover over" just as the seniors and their guests had enjoyed having it very much to themselves a week earlier, there was again an atmosphere of seriousness and a theme keyed to the War that inevitably dominated the programs—whether reports of committees, or addresses of the President of the College and other speakers.

But if there was on both week-ends full awareness of the global conflict and of its impact upon every individual and group in Hanover, and full understanding of its critical effects upon the College, there was no lack of confidence in the future. It is here, and we are in it. Dartmouth and every son of the College, from the oldest member of the reuning class of 1882 to the youngest graduate of 1940, is going to do a full share to the utter limit of ability and resources.
