For nine years the Secretary of the Class of '94 has been reached at the above address. May 1 he retires from his position as Secretary of the Congregational Board of Pastoral Supply and hereafter should be reached at 83 Oak Avenue, Belmont, Massachusetts.
The Secretary, every now and then, sees George A. Bushee, Williams '92, brother of our own Fred. According to George, Fred is pretty much the whole push with regard to war activities out in Boulder, Colorado, where he is spending the days of his "retirement." At least, he is chairman of the rationing board of this community. In other words he is practicing the sociology which he has been teaching all these years.
Referring to the announcement in the last MAGAZINE that the Class of '93 will not hold its 50 year reunion this coming June because of war conditions, here's fondly hoping that the war will be over so that '93 and '94 can hold their reunion together in June, 1944.
By the coming of Barbara Babcock on March 31st to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sumner H. Babcock of Wellesley, Massachusetts, nee Catherine Bushnell Jones, the grandchildren of Mrs. M. B. Jones now number seven.
While we are on this matter of vital statistics mention might be made of the marriage of Lieut. Vincent N. Merrill '33, of the Army of the United States, to Anna V. Swanson, of Watertown, Massachusetts. Lieut. Merrill is with the Engineer Corps, Camouflage Division, and is stationed at Camp Blanding, Florida.
Among the men of our Class who, during the years, have given unstintedly of their time and interest to the welfare of the Class, Bertrand A. Smalley stands very high. We are, therefore, particularly sorry to be obliged to record the death of Mrs. Smalley, which took place April 8, after an illness whcih for months had been known to be incurable. They were married on March 24, 1898, and so had not long passed their 45th Anniversary. The Secretary remembers a day or so that he had in their cozy summer home at North Weymouth and got the impression that B. had been very fortunate in his homemaker and life companion. Like so many of our '94 women, her interest in the Class was very real. The funeral services were held April 10, conducted by the Class Secretary and attended by members of the Class in and around Boston.
Secretary, 14 Beacon St., Boston, Mass. Class Agent, 9 Felton Street, Hudson, Mass.
