SID HAYWARD'S FLASH OF APRIL 23, 1943, on the subject of "Dartmouth Services for Dartmouth Men in the Service" was the occasion of a special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago held on May 4, 1943.

The Chicago Association had been considering some such idea for some time but had been unable to devise a workable plan. Thanks to the good suggestions from Sid and some excellent ideas that were offered at the aforesaid meeting, here is the Chicago Plan.

There's a catch to it, however! Please take note-all you Chicagoans-we need your help! For the use of Dartmouth men in the service, the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago will be listed in the telephone directory at Yards 0500, which is the business telephone number of our good friend, the able J. W. Embree Jr. '21. Bill says that should he be absent, his secretary, who is thinking of asking the College for a raise, will be glad to give information to any Dartmouth men in the service who call. Bill says further that she knows more about Dartmouth than he does, anyway, and that's going some!

Part II of the program involves the call for help, and it's Yours Truly that is the "voice crying in the wilderness." The Association is very anxious to get news to, of and from its men in the service. We understand that the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is being sent to a very large number of Dartmouth men in the service, and it has indicated a willingness within reasonable limitations to let us use its columns as a vehicle for this purpose.

However, we have to have the news to publish. So will you Dartmouth men in the Chicago area—and. service men from the Chicago area who may receive this notice—please pick up your pens and send such news to your Secretary, even if it's only a postcard. The address is 231 South La Salle Street, Chicago, Illinois.

So much for Chicago's Plan. Now, to see if it works!

Congratulations to J. W. Embree Jr. '21 for his election as President of the Council of the Alumni of Dartmouth College.

To bring all those who do not have the following information up to date, the Chicago Association elected at its annual banquet at the University Club held March 24, 1943, the following officers for the fiscal year 1943 to 1944:

President, Newton H. Tobey '25, 222 North Bank Drive, Room 1449, Superior 7700; vice president, Harold V. Clarke '17, 307 North Michigan Avenue, Andover 1912; secretary, Robert S. Critchell '33, 231 South La Salle Street, Andover 3400; treasurer, Milton S. Emrich '30, 111 West Monroe Street, Randolph 5422.

A very sincere vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers with particular appreciation to President K. H. Thomas 'si, who spent much time to make his administration the success that it was.
