OUR REPORTERS HAVE STARTED the ball rolling, but we urge them to keep up the good work and tell their friends to send in news.
Charlie Stege '33 reports that Bob (Lieut. Robert E.) Coulson '33 is stationed at Camp Grant, Rockford, Illinois ... that Sergeant Neil Edward Disque '32 is attached to a Bomber Squadron in the Air Corps, as Gunner and Radio Man, currently teaching at a base in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Don Wood '33 comes in with a triple header—"Lieut. Hugh W. Wolff '35 is with the Air Transport Command somewhere in North Africa—has been there about six months. Lieut. Wolff reports that he used his college French acting as interpreter for several fellow officers who 'wanted the companionship of some girls.' " Don says further that Ed (Lieut. Edward J., USNR) Skillin '35 was home on leave during May
.. . . that he is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. No comment on Lieutenant Skillin's activities during his leave was offered despite repeated questions on the part of your Secretary.
Lieut, (j.g.) Robert L. Woodcock '33 is somewhere in Africa, Don continues, having arrived there via South America. Bob says he held a local Dartmouth meeting somewhere in Brazil. His wife and two sons are living in Akron, Ohio.
Jack Blunt '22 reports that Major Louis J. Van Orden '23 of Montclair, N. J., frequently visits Chicago in connection with his work as salvage officer in the Ordnance Division. He is stationed in Washington, D. C.—his son, Louis J. Van Orden Jr. '47 is in the Ordnance Dept. and is slated for a special course in the Engineering Division.
Ex-President Ken Thomas '23 tells us that Tom (First Lieut. Thomas W.) Eastman '33 is in the Army Air Corps and is transportation officer of his squadron. Tom has been overseas for several months and at the present time is in the Middle East. He says that he is "in a jeep so much that he is suffering from jeepitis." We don't know what that is but it sounds definitely uncomfortable.
The two Bills, Embree '21 and Juergens '23 come through with the following items, respectively: "Booth Sherman (L. B. Jr.) '22 is in the Navy and stationed at San Juan, Puerto Rico, U. S. Naval Air Station."
"Lieut. Neil Williams '25, 4106 Dravus Street, Seattle, Washington, has recently become a proud father for the second time —a son, name, Ronald."
We hope that this issue finds its way to some of you Chicago Dartmouth men in parts unknown and that it gives you a little news of some of your friends and acquaintances. Remember that we'd like to hear from you if possible. Granted that your present mode of living is an odd sort of way to make the "Grand Tour," but they do say foreign travel is so broadening, so send us a card!
