Don Burnham, Dartmouth's track captain and ace miler, won his specialty race at the IC4-A meet in the New York City recently to add another victory to his rapidly increasing string. The Indian ace also ran in the 880 at the IC4-A games and stood a good chance of winning again, but tripped and fell as he pulled out of the pack to pass another runner, and consequently lost all chance of coming in first.
Blond Bob Myers, high scoring forward, has been elected captain of the Big Green basketball five for next season. Myers, who comes from Wyoming, Ohio, was the leading scorer on Dartmouth's sixth consecutive EIL championship five during the past season, and winner of a forward post on the all-league first team by a near-unanimous vote. The newly elected court captain is enlisted in the V-7 Naval Reserve and will remain in College as part of the new Naval unit beginning in July, but probably not long enough actually to lead the 1943-44 team.
In addition to winning its second straight Pentagonal League crown last winter, the Dartmouth hockey team virtually monopolized the 1943 all-league team recently compiled by the coaches of league teams. The Indians placed five men on the first team, and one on the second, with every member of the Indians' starting lineup being mentioned for league honors.
It was only natural that the Big Green's brilliant forward line of Riley, Rondeau, and Harrison should dominate the all-star first line, while Hal Cannon, the Indians' rugged left defenseman, was chosen for that position in the all-league lineup. Goalie Al Barrett was given a split decision with Goodwin Harding of Harvard for netminding duties on the first team, and George Pulliam, left defenseman and three letter athlete, won a defense post on the league's second team.
The Corinthian Yacht Club, Dart- mouth's representative in intercollegiate sailing, participated in three dinghy races this spring but finished way down in the standings in all three regattas. The Big Green sailors will also compete in the allimportant McMillin Cup elimination races at New London, Conn., during the second week of June and if successful will be one of the finalists in the championship regatta to be held off Marblehead, Mass., on June 21.
The golf team was in action only once this spring when it traveled to Princeton on May 8 for the Intercollegiate championships, where it was eliminated in the first round.
