6262 Alumni on Active Service

DURING THE PAST YEAR THE ALUMNI MAGAZINE has carried monthly the names of Dartmouth men going into uniform. In response to many requests for a complete listing the War Directory in full is carried in the following pages. The number of alumni on active service in the armed forces has reached the high total of 6,262. This figure is 29% of the entire alumni body of 21,699. This list does not include men enrolled in college V-12 or A-12 units, nor medical reserves. Because of rapid promotion in so many cases, it has been considered advisable not to list any rank for non-commissioned officers. Please send information about entrance into war service or changes in rank to the Alumni Records Office in Hanover promptly in order to make the permanent record complete and accurate.
