Coach Harry Hillman's winter track team has had little trouble in scoring two wins to date this season as they conquered Tufts, 78-35, and then swamped Holy Cross, '-01-7, in two dual meets staged in the Alumni Gym. Bill Vessie, former Columbia star and intercollegiate high jump champion, broke the College high jump record with a leap of 6 feet 614 inches against Tufts in his first appearance with the Big Green and duplicated this against Holy Cross.

Vessie scored double victories in both meets as he easily won the high jump and the shotput. Charlie Grohsberger, former NYU speedster, captured firsts in the 300 and 600-yard events in both meets, while Tim Hewlett, veteran Dartmouth hurdler, also registered wins in the 60-yard high and low hurdles, and took second in the broad jump against Tufts and Holy Cross. Captain Don Burnham continued to demonstrate his superiority as the outstanding collegiate miler in the country as he easily won his specialty event in both meets.

Against Holy Cross the Big Green tracksters took first place in every one of the twelve events, and registered clean sweeps in all but four. At the completion of the regular five-meet schedule Dartmouth will probably send several individuals to the outstanding invitation meets of the winter season.
