Under Coach Charles "Hafey" Arthur the Big Green hockey sextet has extended its undefeated streak to 39 consecutive games with wins over Colgate, Williams, and Army. Leading this season's sextet is the fast first line of Bruce Mather, high school star at Belmont, Mass., last year;
Captain Dick Rondeau, two-year veteran of the Big Green sextet; and Jack Cunniff, former Boston College skater.
Al Foster, captain of freshman hockey two years ago, and Charlie Bodley, regular guard on the football eleven, are holding down the two regular defense posts, while Bud Vidito of Wakefield, Mass., and Jim Ronayne from Boston College, are sharing the net-minding duties.
Opening the ice season against Colgate at Hamilton, the sextet came through with an easy 8-4 win. Rondeau tallied three goals and Cunniff sank two, while Bob Merriam, second line wing from Deerfield Academy, also got two.
In their home debut against Williams the Big Green skaters trounced the Ephmen, 17-2, in a walkaway contest. Paced by Rondeau and Mather, the Dartmouth puck parade reached its climax early in the third period when the Indians scored six goals in the first three minutes of play.
Trailing 3-1 at the end of the first period at West Point, the Green sextet tallied two goals in the second canto to knot the count at 3-all, and then came back in the final frame with a tremendous eight-goal avalanche to win 11-4. Bruce Mather led the attack with five goals, while Dick Rondeau pushed in three.
