Eugene D. Burbank writes.that on December 23 he and Mrs. Burbank observed their golden wedding with a fine turkey dinner at the Hillcrest, midway between Sierre Madm and Pasadena. This dinner was in recognition of friends who had been so loyal to Eugene in his sickness and to his wife whose eyesight is somewhat impaired. Following the dinner, by the necessary car sharing, all the thirty-nine guests went to the Burbanks' home at the foot of Mt. Wilson. Stowell '90, a boyhood friend from Claremont, N. H., was the only other Dartmouth man present, and there was also a girlhood friend from Evanston, Ill., a classmate of Mrs. Burbank's in Northwestern University. Other colleges represented included graduates of Brown, Wellesley, Norwich, West Point, Chicago, Minnesota, and a dozen other colleges. O'Brien '91, who had entertained the Burbanks, was unable to accept their invitation to stay over for the golden wedding.
A delightful note from Dr. Quint tells: "While I am supposed to be retired, I find plenty to do, especially with my dear wife partly incapacitated from her broken hip. But we manage to keep things going pretty well, with cheerful spirits and trust in the One Above."
All who knew Perley for the short time he was a member of the class will regret his passing away on January 22. He was a beloved physician in Melrose, where he had practiced for forty-seven years.
