The flow of negative publicity which has plagued Dartmouth for the past several years seems to have subsided, and the College has kept its focus on providing an excellent learning environment both inside and outside the classroom. Bombarded by College publications, I hesitate to single out any individual anecdotes, and I realize that some of the news I receive is probably screened to create a positive spin, but the student body seems to be interesting, diverse, and generally having a good time while learning and keeping busy. Enough of Doctor Feelgood.
Mea culpa! John Burke notified me that there has been no class officer shutout. In die dark ages of 1976, Burkie was named Class Secretary of the Year. We are not in a futility league with the Red Sox or Rangers after all. Greg Yadley reports that last year we set a class non-reunion giving record. Anyone who would like to serve as an agent, please contact Greg in Tampa.
A quick word from Joe Davis, who is carving a niche as an oil and gas consultant in Dallas. Two classmates were at the Olympic whitewater trials last May, Eric Evans as an NBC commentator and Steve Ruhle as a spectator.
Larry Bickford, who is a computer teacher at Hopkinton (N.H.) High School, has been named the recipient of the Apple Library of Tomorrow grant for a project he did with a co-teacher on "The Virtual Library." Congrats to Larry. Congratulations are also in order for John Clementi, recently named a trustee of Fitchburg State College. John is the president of Plastican Inc., a manufacturer of plastic containers. He received a law degree at Boston College after Dartmouth. He also holds trusteeships at Fitchburg Art Museum and Leominster Hospital.
Andy Harrison, his wife, Adrienne, and their children Mark and Rachel live in Larchmont, N.Y. Andy practices personal injury litigation with Molod & Berkowitz in New York playing, when he can, both defense and offense. Adrienne is a pediatrician in private practice in Mamaroneck, N.Y., who was previously chief of pediatrics with Kaiser Permanente. Their kids are involved in soccer games, dance classes, Sunday school, etc.
About a half dozen classmates and 15 more from surrounding classes were at a tailgate party before the Princeton game, catching up on each other and exchanging stories about others who couldn't be there to defend themselves.
Finally, Mike Sack is building his collection of Dream Team conversations. Over the holidays Mike was in Phoenix and met Charles Barkley in the airport. For those counting, he also saw Clyde Drexler in Portland.
