Truly Washington has become the crossroads of the world. On the afternoon of February 15, Tom Staley and Gail Laßue Yeomans were married in Olathe, Kansas. February 17 they arrived in Washington on a whirlwind preliminary honeymoon (the definitive one will occur in Arizona, come April) and before getting away, your scribe had the pleasure of a brief visit, sandwiched between appointments. Gail is a graduate of Holton Arms School, Washington, and this reporter feels confident she will be a most charming and efficient hostess in Tom's Kansas City home Also on the Washington calendar was a splendid February 23 evening spent with Lee (Dutch) Bausher and Hal Geilich at the former's quarters in the Dodge Hotel. The biggest news coming out of the session was that Dutch's eldest daughter Phyllis is a freshman this year at Bennington College. When queried about his four children, Dutch championed a broad national policy looking toward lowering of the per-capita debt of the U. S. by increasing the "capita." We were duly impressed with the soundness of such reasoning, and pass it along to our readers for what it may be worth. Dutch continues to donate two days of every week to the Children's Hosiery Unit of WPB, in the Nation's Capital, devoting what time remains to manufacturing cargo parachutes for the Army Air Corps and hosiery for the nation's kiddies (headquarters in Reading, Pa.). During his spare time which is only in a manner of speaking .... Dutch serves on his local Draft Board, engages in lay-preaching in his church, is active in Sunday School work, etc. Hal Geilich is also industrious as a beaver and prospers by directing operations of the Geilich Leather Co. in Boston and Geilich Tanning Co., Taunton; is able to get to Washington only now and then.

Corey Ford, member of our class who doubles as secretary of the class of BlanketyBlank, has been commissioned Major AUS and writes March 6 that "by the time this reaches you I'll be out of the country on a special mission with the Air Corps. I hope you will pass on all my best wishes to all and sundry of my classmates, and I'll be looking forward to a proper reunion when this mess is over." Corey's mail should still be routed to Gramercy Park Hotel, New York 10, N. Y. .... Unconfirmed rumors have reached Washington that Rog Wilde's rank has been upped from captain to major, and that Major Bill Marcy is dividing living between the Statler Hotel in Washington and Wright Field, Dayton. Confirmations or denials will be welcomed, from any quarter, including the principals themselves Confirmed rumors place Dew Gruenhagen near the top of the heap, with a lieutenant-colonelcy, and Bob Kendall as a Navy lieutenant Doug Storer turns up again at his address of many years' standing, 80 Barnard Road, New Rochelle Roy Burrill, on the other hand, has a new address, Room 751, 135 So. LaSalle St., Chicago 3 Dave Plume reports he's living at 138 Reid Ave., Port Washington, N. Y.

Merrill (Mick) Shoup has filed an additional installment of / Cover The West. Highlights from the Colorado Springs dispatch follow: "Dorothy, and I have a brand-new daughter by the name of Nancy Ann. She was born October 31 and both the mother and daughter are doing fine. This is our second daughter, as we have another by the name of Mary Evelyn, who was ten years old last July 18. I seem to be completely surrounded by women, since, in addition to the two daughters, have a cocker spaniel by the name of Judy. Enjoyed very much having Rog and Caroline Wilde as near as Pueblo. Had several good get-togethers with the Wildes and always enjoyed seeing them. I just talked to Ralph Ruder this morning (written December 11) and he says everything is going O.K. with him. Tom Cleveland's eldest daughter Joan who is here at Colorado College is doing fine, and I believe she likes it very much. I continue to be somewhat busy. We have converted practically all of our gold-mining businesses to the war effort. We produce lead, zinc, airplane forgings, railroad ballast, crushed rock for airfields, power for army camps, coal, and a lot of other essentials. Rynie Rothschild was through here a couple of months ago, but didn't get to see him. I believe he is stationed at Phoenix."

Bill McClintock is general foreman of Lockheed Aircraft, Plant A-i, Burbank, Calif. Lives at 500 So. Keystone St. in the same city Val (Rock) Grundman has removed to 3517 A Stafford St., Arlington, Va Geo. Carmody, in the Army, should be addressed at 380 Hayward Ave., Mount Vernon, N. Y The permanent mail address of Major Jack Means is 218 Forest Drive, Falls Church, Va We get favorable reports on Major Ell Fisher of the Chicago QM Depot through Bob Wilson, who writes that he has worked very closely with Major Fisher for almost two years, and that "it was a real pleasure about ten days ago (:written February 25) to have Ell visit our plant in Jersey City to look over our operation." Bob's company is packaging bouillon powder for Ration "K," for which it has been awarded the Army-Navy "E," and the organization is now up for a six months' star award for continued production Receipt is acknowledged of a long, personal, and most interesting letter from Dr. Art Duryea, practicing in North Hollywood, Calif., at the time he wrote, but awaiting transportation back to Honolulu. Art was out of the running for a while but is now back in harness doing his share to alleviate the sufferings of mankind. Our thanks, Art, for restoration of the old pepper and for your letter.
