The Dartmouth Club of Hong Kong sprang into existence February 27, 1962. The Year of the Tiger thus becomes the Year of the Indian as well, at least as far as Hong Kong is concerned. Seven Dartmouth men turned up for the founding meeting, held at the American Club.

Francis K. C. Pan '26, on whose initiative the club came into being, was elected president. Also named to office were Robert A.Aylward '37, vice president: Bob McCabe'51, secretary, and S. Kamstaam Leung '59, treasurer. Other founding members are Fenmin Tung '27, Shih-yuen Wang '44 and Lincoln T. Yu '56. Three more men, unable to attend the first meeting, have indicated they will join the club's ranks. They are Hsi-juiShen '28, now in the States on business; William H. Allman '43 and A. Y. Ho '11. Professions represented so far range from banking and investment through business and diplomacy to journalism.

Mr. Pan, who single-handedly has carried on Dartmouth's work in Hong Kong for the past several years, reported on interviews held earlier this year with prospects for this fall's entering class. Plans were made to hold an orientation gathering for successful candidates before they leave for the Far Northeast. A start was made on plans to welcome the two Dartmouth men arriving this summer under sponsorship of the Tucker Foundation's Project Asia. The club will do its best to make their year of teaching at Chung Chi College a rewarding one.

So far, all Dartmouth men known to be living in Hong Kong have signed on board the club. Activities will broaden in coming months, and all Hanoverians, either resident, newly arrived,' or just passing through, are invited to get in touch. The new Vox Clamantis on the shores of the South China Sea extends its greetings to Hanover.
