Coach Tommy Keane's six-man golf team opened its season convincingly by taking both early-season matches, 6-3, the first over Williams and the second from the Camp Endicott Seabees.

With a nucleus of only Captain Dick Pringle, Coach Keane had to choose his men from 14 candidates who qualified for the elimination tournament. From these aspirants, John Bill '47, son of Dean Bill, Joe Davenport '46, Dave Weld, Tom McCollow, and Gene Koch were chosen. Koch, a V-12 trainee is out for his third letter, having won one as a reserve end on the football team, and the other as a substitute forward on the Indian quintet.

Although the team has been handicapped by the condition of the golf course, it looked impressive in its first matches, with Captain Pringle shooting a 76 while winning both individual matches. The men according to Keane should be able to lower their scores as soon as the greens are improved, since they had difficulty in getting accustomed to the faster city greens.
