THE ANNUAL CORNELL-DARTMOUTH PICNIC was held at the Buffalo Trap and Field Club on June 23rd. This congenial gathering brought together sixty-five from the two Western New York Clubs.
Hugh Johnson's "Green-Reds" bested Chet Gale's "Red-Greens" by a score of approximately 18 to 17. These two stalwart pitchers were backed-up by some of the most uncertain support in the field ever witnessed in sand-lot baseball.
The afternoon of sports was topped off with dinner presided over by Horace F. Taylor '23, as toastmaster and the only truly professional performer anywhere in evidence throughout the day. The climax of the day came when the "Dart-Corns" thespians presented their thrill packed melodrama, "Stand In."
President H. Carleton White '23 was assisted by the following Dartmouth-Cornell Picnic committee: Carlton S. Wicker '14, Chairman; Evans T. Twichell '13, Karl L. Thielscher '17, N. Osborne Siegfried '23, Ford W. Turgeon '23, Horace F. Taylor Jr. '23, Herbert F. Darling '26, E. Paul Venneman '26, Darrell O. Granger '28, Theodore C. Flemming '34.
Plans are underway to send all members of the Western New York Club now serving in the armed forces word of present day activity within the club. This, it is hoped, will maintain a bond between those in service and those at home that will make for a strong and active club when the service men return and begin renewing their association with the college through the medium of the club.
This club's annual "Dartmouth Award" (pictured with these notes) which is patterned after the Barrett Cup award was presented at the following 1944 Buffalo high school graduating exercises by the members listed below: Fosdick-Masten—H.
