Here it is well into November and our copyfor the December column is due in Hanover.We have been sort of holding back, hoping wemight receive one letter, but no such luck.Fortunately we have a little news sent to usby our good friends in the Alumni RecordsOffice in Hanover.

First is a clipping from Commercial and Financial Chronicle of New York City dated September 6:

McKennan Heads Dept. of First California. Bruce McKennan, well-known investment securities expert, has been appointed vice president of the First California Company, 300 Montgomery Street, in charge of the firm's government, municiipal and corporate bond department, according to an announcement made by George H. Grant, president of the company.

Appointment of Mr. McKennan, President Grant said, was in keeping with the development of the firm's services to the general public. Mr. McKennan's wide institutional accounts increases the effectiveness of that department.

McKennan a Dartmouth economic major, brings to his new position a sound background of experience gained in Eastern and Western markets. He has been engaged in the investment bond business since his graduation in 1927, with the exception of the 30 months he served with the U. S. Air Corps. Entering the service in 1942 as a first lieutenant he moved up to the rank of major and became executive officer of one of the First Mustang Fighter Groups (No. 363) with which he saw active service in the European theatre. He returned to the United States in September 1944, and upon his request at that time was placed on inactive status December 1944.

Bill Abbott, recently promoted to the rank o£ lieutenant commander has more recently become separated from the Navy and is now back with his family in Chicago. Bill has purchased a house at 249 Linden Ave., Winnetka, Ill., and expects shortly to be back at work with Automatic Signal Corporation.

Lew Beyer is now living at 1908 East 90th Street, Cleveland 6, Ohio. Sure wish Lew would drop us a line about what he is and has been doing. It's been many years since we last got up to date with him.

Mark Copeland is working as an accountant with the White Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ed Fry who started out in New York in the merchandising business, and then went west for a few years is back in New York working for China and Glass Distributors, Inc., 200 Fifth Avenue, N. Y. C. Ed lives at 25 Ridge- crest West, Scarsdale, N. Y.

Colonel Paul Hannah is still located out in Dayton, Ohio and is living at 2511 Roanoke Avenue.

Al Macdonald has returned closer to his native haunts in the Middle West. Al is still with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and his present address is: Room 735 U. S. P. O. Bldg., East Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee.

Charlie Bartlett was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander. He is also being separated from the Navy and is now back at his law practice in Boston.

Lieutenant Commander Ethan Hitchcock, also recently back in civilian life, dropped in our office a few weeks back while he was in Boston visiting his mother. Since then Hitch has returned to Boston with his family and has entered the retail shoe business.

Chuck Burwell has purchased a new home in Cohasset, and he and his family will have moved to that town by the time this issue goes to press.

A couple of weeks ago we spent a very enjoyable Saturday evening with the Rankins, Williamsons, Salingers, Burwells and Bartlrtts After a most pleasant cocktail hour at the Williamsons in Norwood, we all had dinner at one of the local food emporiums and then went on to the Rankins' lovely new home in Dedham for the balance of the evening.

Bill Prescott and his wife Kay left yesterday for a week of deer hunting in northern New Hampshire. They expect to end up in Hanover this Saturday in time for the Cornell game.

Vic Reynolds is now living at 400 Triphammer Road, Ithaca, New York, where he is working with the Cornell University Press, University Publisher.

Stew Schackne is working for the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey in New York City. His office is at the Rockefeller Plaza Jack McQuade lives in Pelham, New York at 247 Cliff Avenue.

Sykes Hardy has been spending the past several weeks doing some special work at the head office of his company, Joseph T. Ryerson, in Chicago. It has been rumored that he may be transferred out of the New England area, but we hope those rumors are without foundation.

Major Monty Phillips has been released from the Army and is now back at his old home on West Lake Road in Williamson, New York.

Lee Slinkhard has moved west from his native state of Indiana and is now located in Camas, Washington, where he is owner and publisher of a weekly newspaper.

Ken and Katherine Ballantyne announced the arrival of a baby daughter, Susan, born last August. Charlie Bartlett reports having seen Ken and Kay at the Yale game. He also learned that they have recently moved into a new home which they have purchased in Riverside, Conn.

Al Chabot is now with American Water Works and Electric Company at 50 Broad Street in New York City Carl Lindenmeyr is working as Personnel manager of Watson-Flagg Machine Company in Paterson, New Jersey. Carl lives in Paramus, N. J Ted Rose is working as manager of a retail store for Michael J. Leo in Kalamazoo, Mich. .... Bob Stevens has been sent back to Europe as Civilian Representative for General Motors and his present headquarters are in Paris.
