DARTMOUTH'S TOTAL WINTER-TERM enrollment on November 17 tentatively stood at 1,716, with a number of late-arriving veterans likely to boost the figure a little higher. This total was made up of 746 civilians, 965 men in the NROTC and V-12 Unit, and 5 Army medics. The November total compares with 1163 men enrolled at the start of the last term, while the civilian figure of 746 compares with only 357 in July.
War veterans who returned for the November term numbered 299, including 164 men with previous Dartmouth affiliations, 78 former members of the Navy V-12 Unit at the college, 41 new freshmen, and 16 transfers. Forty-nine of these men, or about 16 per cent, brought wives to Dartmouth with them.
Civilian freshmen who matriculated for the November term numbered 119. This group constitutes the final installment of the Class of 1949, joining the 49 men who matriculated in March and the 233 who entered in July for a class total of 391 men.
Navy enrollment of 965 this term breaks down into the approximate figures of 626 NROTC and V-12 students, 206 men in the V-g aviation program, 123 Marines, and 10 Navy medics.
