Dr. B. J. Manning of Dover, N. H., is now a lieutenant colonel. He is supposed to be with Patton's Army and reports assert that he is doing a very good job.
And on December 7, 1944, there was born unto Mr. and Mrs. Al Jarnow, Betsy Jane. They were made glad hearted by the arrival of the cute little income tax exemption and all are doing well. Al, it will be recalled, was a competent photographer in undergraduate days, taking Doc Griggs famous course in dark slide pulling.
Sid Milnor, whose address now is 631 Lincoln Ave., Williamport, Pa., is leaving for Washington for training with the American Red Cross for overseas service. He has no idea where he will be assigned except that it will be overseas.
Bill Griffin claims to be the oldest living father of the youngest living Dartmouth undergraduate. Paul Griffin, born October 7, 1944, is slated for the class of 1966. Bill Griffin Ill and Peter Griffin, fourteen-year-old twins, have two years to go before matriculating with the class of 1952. Bill, after doing a stretch in Washington with the Office of Statistical Service, has rejoined the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency in New York.
Charley Hayward, looking quite well, says that his book No Ship May Sail is all sold out. At Christmas time he had personal letters asking for a hundred extra copies arid more. Charles was not pleased at having to refuse this business.
The Lin White's have been skiing up in the Laurentians.
Mart Hoberth, whose office is at 460 Park Ave., in New York City, is extra busy with a new son, his gardening and the big trees the September hurricane blew over on his place. Mart has given up photography after doing very well in the Salon field and is now turning out some creditable oil paintings. He has also managed to get in some good hunting and fishing in his non-existent spare time.
Dick Heydt has changed his residence to River Lane, Westport, Conn.
Saw Ken Hill in Boston the other day. He was getting slicked up to take a good customer out to lunch. Lt. Don Lyman and family have moved to 1317 Woodside Paiikway, Silver Spring, Md. Lt. Col. Chuck MacMillan is now at 3760 Gunston Road, Alexandria, Va. Henry Johnson is getting his mail at 100 Washington Road, Springfield 8, Mass.
There aint much happened sence the last riting. Me and my male offspring, is getting in sum time in the air. The other afternoon I set the Cub coupe down onto Wolfeboro Bay on skis, thinking I had made a very sweet landing. I slides out of the Cub, with fur hat cocked on the side of my hed and asts quite cocky "How'd you like them for sour apples?" The kid gives me a level look and cracks "O. K.—considering your age and eyesight." Then he climbs in beside the instructor, slams the door and goes elsewhere very sudden. I dunno about you fellers, but I fur wun am about ready to give up trying to keep ahead of the classes of 1950 to i960 inclusive. They is way ahead of where we was at their age.
