The class of 1901, Nashua High School, sent five men to Dartmouth: Bob French, Tom Luce, "Bunny" Piatt, George Terrien '06, and myself; also "Ike" Maynard was from N.H.S. class of 1900. In 1961 I arranged a sort of reunion by letter with my Nashua High School classmates and tried again this past year - the 60th and 65th anniversaries. But this time I have received only one reply. This was from Mary Field Sexton, widow of Ralph Sexton 'O4. It is possible that Mary and I are the sole survivors of N.H.S. 'Ol. Those of us who, by the grace of God, have passed our four score years of life experience a sort of poignant loneliness.
Yet, in a more cheerful vein, I have some good news of those husky members of our Class who have been able to get away to the life-giving sunshine of Florida. The latest was from Roger Brown. With Jane he had flown to Quartzite, Ariz., where they were enjoying the wonderful, dry, hot climate. He had had a talk with S.B. Cunningham who reported that all was well with Louise and himself. Roger had previously talked in Florida with John and Lucy Bell - both well. He was hoping to arrange an '05 dinner some time, perhaps at Clearwater Beach.
C.C. Hills writes from Mt. Dora, his old stamping ground, to which he had returned from Dunedin, that he sees Leon Smith and wife Amy frequently. Their home is only 15 miles from Mt. Dora. Leon is a regular attendant at the Leesburg Rotary Club and an ardent golfer. It was good to hear from Huston Lillard. In a lighthearted vein he admits that he is not quite up to training for the Olympics, but, with Ethel's help, he is carrying on a sort of rearguard action. We wish a restoration of strength not only to "Lil" but the other men whose health has been such as to interfere with their usual active lives.
