Coach Tuss McLaughry announced this past month that he had selected A. Barr "Whoops" Snively to be Dartmouth's football line coach this fall. He also disclosed that Milt Piepul, assistant under Earl Brown during the past two seasons, would be retained on the 1945 staff as backfield coach. McLaughry is expected to round out his staff with a new end coach in the near future.
Snively has been a member of the Williams College athletic staff for the past 13 years. Before going to Williams in 1932 as an assistant to Charles Caldwell in football and head coach of hockey and lacrosse, Snively had served for three years as a line coach under McLaughry at Brown.
Snively is a graduate of Princeton, class of 1924. He was captain of the 1923 Princeton eleven where his play as a guard in a strong Orange and Black line won nationwide attention. Previous to attending Princeton, he spent one year at Annapolis and played football for the Navy eleven under Coach Gil Dobie during the 1919 season. During the past two years, he has been doing Red Cross work overseas.
