Herewith is a long-sought picture of Lt. Col. P. John MacNaughton with whom I have tried to keep in touch in order to get his picture for the MAGAZINE, but he was making such good time towards Tokyo that it has been difficult to catch up with him. He was invalided home to the Walter Reed Hospital in October 1943 and returned to San Francisco for duty in November. He entered the Hammond Hospital in Modesto, Calif., then went back to the Walter Reed again until 1944, when he was retired because of physical disability in line of duty. Mac has sent me quite a few pictures of Guadalcanal and the Solomons where he was on active duty, and they certainly show plenty of activity. I wish it was possible to show these around to the class. He is now temporarily settled in Chevy Chase and his address is 4324 East West Highway, Chevy Chase 15, Md. He is apparently still not too well as he only leaves the house once or twice a week. I am sure he would be glad to hear from members of the class.

Frank Austin has taken another step up in the railroad business, having been made general purchasing agent of the New York Central Railroad with offices in New York City. He was formerly purchasing agent for the Boston and Albany.

Nate Howland has just been appointed vice president of Douglas T. Johnston & Cos., Inc., 247 Park Ave., New York City, investment counselors.

Mabel Avery recently told me that John Morawski, son of Freddie and Gladys, was wounded on Guam on July 21 and died the following day. He has been the recipient of a number of citations. Her other son, Peter, is in the Army, and is expected to leave shortly for overseas service. Gladys herself is the Elizabeth Arden representative in Lima, Peru, where that company is putting up a large building to handle its South American interests.

I recently had a nice visit with Craig Thorn's wife, who was in Boston for a few days while Craig was having a check-up in a Boston hospital for his heart. He has had some difficulty in the last few years and was afraid it was becoming serious, but the hospital assured him that with reasonable care he should be able to live to one hundred.

Miss Jeanne Hoyt Burroughs, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude, is now married to William Hanford McLaughlin of Houston, Texas.

I received a most welcome letter the other day from Barney Dreyfus in which he spoke about our experience with hazing in our freshman year. Barney said he is still on his own as a member of the New York Stock Exchange and has desk room c/o Fox O'Hara & Go., 60 Broad St., New York City 4. He wanted to be remembered to the crowd and was sorry he hasn't seen many of them in recent years.

Jerry Lord, the son of Dick and Phyllis, has been covering himself with glory on the Mediterranean and Italian fronts as a radar operator on a bomber and has completed over two hundred missions. He has received two Presidential citations. I remember him as a little trumpet blower, not so terribly many years ago, at our earlier Reunions. How time flies!

One of the few people we have heard nothing from for a period of years is Warren Peck. I find he is operating the leading hardware store in St. Johnsbury, Vt., and is doing a nice business. He is married and has a .child about eight years old.

We are sorry to report that Jess Hawley is sick and has been in the hospital fox some time. The doctor has told him he has got to keep away from work for the balance of the year.

Sandy and Lillian Hooker are now grandparents. Their daughter gave birth to a girl, Susan Bishop, on March 23. Sandy doesn't mind being a grandfather but he says his morale is a little shaken because he is married to a grandmother.

We had a delightful evening at the Engineers' Club March 29, at which Bob Burns showed moving pictures of the various Reunions to the class members and their wives. The following were present: Sandy and Lillian Hooker, Chet Martha Brett, Dick Lord, Clark and Elsie Saville, Gordon and Grace Weinz, Dan and Geraldine Watson, Ned and Josephine Ford, Edith, Eleanor and Allen Newton, Bob and Marge Burns and guest (Chet Butts and his wife were also guests of the Burns family), Ben and Ethel Scully and their daughter, son-in-law and another guest, and Harry and Louise Floyd.

The women folks got quite a kick out of the pictures and some of them wanted them run off the second time. As usual Dan Watson and Sandy Hooker started the singing and Josephine Ford presided at the piano. All agreed we should have other parties so we are going to see if we can't get a crowd together once a year from now on.
