It was the privilege of Mrs. Patey and the secretary to spend the month of May with our youngest daughter Barbara and her husband on their farm in South Royalton, Vt., and get acquainted with a new grandchild. President Bartlett helped the secretary out a bit in securing a little extra gasoline for the trip. How beautiful that country is in May! As we passed through West Lebanon I thought of our two classmates "Tute" Worthen and Ernest French. Before returning, your secretary hopes to visit with Ed Chandler.

Recently a letter came from Houston, Texas, from our classmate Nichols. The letter was full of good cheer, though within a year he has lost the power of speech through a necessary operation on his throat. The letter was full of information also about H. M. Lull '97 who retired April 1 from many years of able service with the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Now comes the time of summer vacations and the secretary hopes every '98 man may have a good one and then write him about it.

Our faithful class agent in a recent letter wrote that '9B was almost over the top for another year. By this time undoubtedly the goal has been attained.

In a recent letter from Harry Lynch there was a clipping from Ayer, Mass., stating that Ernest M. Gleason was retiring this year after completing thirty-four years as principal of the Ayer High School. Frank C. Johnson '97 is also retiring after a term of thirty-six years as superintendent at Ayer. These two men have been the most faithful workers in the great field of education in Massachusetts.

On Sunday May 6 your secretary attended the Methodist Church in South Royalton, Vt., where a Union service was held. The service was under the leadership of the Dartmouth Christian Union: The student minister was James Fries of the Dartmouth V-12 Unit. Thus is Dartmouth College bringing helpful religious influence to rural New England.

Secretary-Treasurer, 17 Fairbanks St., Brookline 46, Mass.
