Brundage Honored
August 1945

A hill on Okinawa has been named "Kid's Hill" by the U. S. Marines in honor of a Dartmouth graduate of the class of 1945 who was killed in the savage hand to hand fight that captured Awacha Pocket and broke one of the strongest bastions in the jap defense of Naha. The Dartmouth alumnus honored by his Marine comrades was Second Lt. Robert P. Brundage '45, former leader in DOC activities, who lost his life on May 3, shortly after his twentyfirst birthday. He was a platoon leader in one of the companies that for three days and nights fought an epic battle against the Japs.

lieutenant Brundage, during his last year at Dartmouth, was a member of Green Key, head of instruction of Cabin and Trail, and a member of the Dartmouth Christian Union and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In previous years he had been a member of the College Band, director of the Ledyard Canoe Club and of Winter Sports Council, and chairman of the Social Service Commission.
