DESPITE THE D. C. Hotel Strike, the Dartmouth Club of Washington celebrated Dartmouth Night with a turnout of about 100 men at the New Athens Restaurant, October 25. The program featured as guest speaker Dr. Ralph A. Sawyer '15, Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan, and Joseph M. McDaniel Jr., Special Assistant to the Secretary of Commerce and former Economics Professor at Dartmouth. Dr. Sawyer spoke of his experiences at Bikini Atoll where he was in charge of a group of about 500 scientists. Mr. McDaniel, holder of an honorary Masters Degree from Dartmouth, spoke on his experiences with Naval Intelligence during the War. Will Fitch '17 led some robust singing' and Chuck Grant '39 directed the ever-popular quartet which received its usual heavy ovation. A lengthy and most humorous history of the past year was presented by Stirling Wilson '16, writing under the pen name of Z. Mink Brook. Our perennial favorite and Washington's Number One Dartmouth Man, Henry P. Blair '89, brought the evening to a fitting close with a few appropriate words on "Dartmouth." The Dartmouth Night Committee was headed up in fine style by Donald P. Cole '19.

Elections were held for the coming year and the Club accepted the recommendations of the Nominating Committee of which Dick White 'lB was Chairman. Officers for 1946-47 are as follows: President Harold S. Fitz '23 (2nd Term); Vice Presidents—Percy H. Russell '29 and Herbert H. Harwood '26; Secretary-Treas urer Lawrence C. Reeves '33; Asst. Secretary-Treasurer Oliver A. Quayle III '42; Executive Committee: Frederick L. Pearce '15, Donald P. Cole '19, Malcolm F. Johnson '21, and Charles S. Grant '39.

The next event on a busy fall schedule is the annual Dartmouth-Cornell Luncheon scheduled for November 16 at the United Nations Club. There will be a play-by-play description of the game.
