In honor of Jacob Nunnemacher '42, who was killed in action in Italy last April, the D.O.C. announced during the Winter Weekend that the annual slalom competition will be called the Nunnemacher Memorial Slalom.

As Captain of the 1942 ski team, Nunnemacher specialized in downhill and slalom and led his team through a very successful season. Entering the service in 1943, he was transferred from the infantry to the ski troops. In Italy he made an extremely daring and successful attack on an enemy machine gun emplacement and was killed instantly during the operation. He was awarded the Silver Star posthumously.
