For the guests there were no dull, in-between moments: for the Carnival Ball, changed from its former time on Friday night to the first night of Carnival, was scheduled to begin at 10.30. Another change in the Ball was the abandonment of the fancy dress costume which has prevailed in the" past. Instead evening gowns and tail coats or tuxedos were the dress of the evening. The gymnasium, decorated in blue and silver with a modernistic motif prevailing, was the setting for perhaps the gayest as well as the largest ball ever held at Dartmouth. Bert Lown and his Hotel Biltmore orchestra furnished the music for the dance, which lasted until four in the morning. Then, scarcely getting to bed before the sun had arisen, guests retired to await the main events of the winter sports program which began on Friday.
