The surviving membership of graduates of '83 is now reduced to so small a number that any report for our class must necessarily be brief.
Warren A. Bennett, formerly on the police force at Gloucester, Mass., was obliged to retire on account of heart trouble. He is living at his home under the care of his only son, his wife having died several years ago.
William F. Carter, president of the class, according to my last advices, was in the United States Government service in Washington, D. C., and resides at Garrett Park, Maryland. I have had no reply to my last two communications to him.
Edgar H. Sinkey, reported unmarried, is in a convalescent home in Seattle, Washington, having lost his eyesight. He is still much interested in his Alma Mater.
Rev. Levi Wild retired from the ministry at Royalton, Vt., some time ago. I visited him last Summer and found him quite active in mind and body. He is living alone, his wife having died over two years ago.
The secretary has been in quite good health generally up to the first of the year but in April had to become a patient in the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital for treatment of a neurological disease involving bladder and kidneys and an operation where he now is pending a further operation. Consequently, he could not attend the revival of the Class Secretaries Association Meeting this year or any class reunions.
Mrs. Watson is fairly well but under the constant care of a companion nurse.
The 63rd anniversary of our marriage could not be observed in any formal way, she being at our home, "Overlook," Hartford, Vt., and I being in the hospital.
I was much pleased to notice that Hon. Warren R. Austin, United States Senator from Vermont, a warm friend of mine, was awarded the LL.D. degree at Commencement this year by Dartmouth College. He is an alumnus of the University of Vermont, the Alma Mater of my daughter.
Secretary and Treasurer, Hartford, Vt.
