Nate Lenfesty was given a reception late in November at the Bankers Club to celebrate his twenty-five years as cashier of the National City Bank. More than five hundred officers and employees who have been associated with him for that period attended.

Word from Harold McAllister reports on his sons: Harold Jr. '4O is a captain at Camp Patrick Henry, Newport News, Va.; Donald '44 received his commission as ensign at Midshipman's School, Cornell University, on November 30, 1944; Alan '46 is now in Hanover. Good luck to them all.

Lt. Harry H. Semmes Jr. received the Distinguished Service Cross just about Christmas time. He lost his right eye during a heroic landing on Saipan and is now at home in Washington on medical leave. The citation reads, "The young officer was platoon leader in an army tank company in the landing operation on Saipan. After he was struck by Japanese shell fragments that pierced his eye and nose, he continued leading the tanks shoreward. He refused medical aid on the beach. Farther inland he assigned the platoon over to the ranking sergeant, declined to board a tank and set off on foot for treatment. Later, medical officers ordered him evacuated." Two brothers, Lt. Raphael and J. Gibson Semmes are also in the Army overseas. This is the fourth Distinguished Service Cross awarded the Semmes family for Col. Harry Sr. had been awarded three in the two World Wars. Young Harry was graduated from Woodberry Forest Preparatory School in Orange, Va. He was a senior at Dartmouth when he enlisted in December 1941. He also fought on Kwajelein and Euievetok.

Please let the secretary thank all in this way for the cards and messages received at Christmas time. Orders prevented his sending. cards this year.
