As another post-war summer session slips into the past the Administration here at Dartmouth is completing final preparations tor the influx of more than thirty-one hundred students who will invade the Hanover plain to register for the Fall semester. The coming college year promises to be a momentous one, not only for the College, but more specifically for the many members of the class of Forty-Six that will be on campus this year. According to a recent check with the Registrar there will be two hundred and twenty-five '46's at Dartmouth this fall and approximately one hundred and thirty-five of these will graduate by June '48. So things from here seem to indicate that this 1947-48 year will see more '46's participating in a wider range of campus activities than any other year in our class's history.

The one thing that is synonymous with the fall semester at any American college is the football season. Consequently, as this paper goes to press, even though it is only the middle of September, Hanover is once again the scene of long, tedious, daily drills by the members of the varsity football squad, who start their season off with Holy Cross on September 27th at Worcester. There are six '46's on the roster now and each one of them should see considerable action this Fall. These men are: Jud Hannigan, who is this year's captain: Phil Stedfast weighing in at two hundred and twenty pounds and going well in one of the tackle slots: Frank O'Neill and Bill Spoor, both experienced ends; Rudy Lorraine played halfback last fall, but has now been shifted to guard; and finally Dale Armstrong, a letterman from last season, who has been moved from fullback to end.

With each passing month it seems that a few more '46's leave the fold here on campus and take up residence either over at Sachem or down in the Wigwam. At this writing we don't have a complete list of all the '46's who are married, but here are a few of the ones that we have seen around. Hank Durham and wife Pat. Hank was married in June of this year after completing another successful season as one of the mainstays on the varsity baseball team Frank and Pat Ettari seen wheeling their daughter Catherine Ann across campus. .... Brad and Hope Jones celebrating their first wedding anniversary. Brad enters Tuck this Fall "Tiger" Vallely and wife Anne. "Tiger" has being doing construction work this summer and due to his efforts that road to Boston is now a bit wider and a little smoother Bill and Bev Riley. Bill is captain-elect of this year's hockey team. Bill, Bev and Bill Jr., are spending the summer on Cape Cod Charlie Duncan and his wife passed through town a few weeks back and from reports Charlie will be at Harvard Law School this Fall Jack and Martha Koeniger are the proud parents of a new Psi U legacy Charlie and Pat Bodley are around for the summer session. Charlie graduates this September and word has it that he'll accept a teacher-coach position out on Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands "Shipwreck" Kelley seen playing his usual slick game at the keystone sack for a very hot and cold Psi U aggregation. "Shipwreck" was married to Ruth Nickerson in June. Jack and Ruth Howard are also seen frequently around Hanover. Jack is now an instructor in the Chemistry Department.

The summer session here this year will probably prove to be Dartmouth's last. For the average student attending it was rather enjoyable, with every week-end a long one, but it proved a grind to our already overworked faculty. Among the four hundred students enrolled for this inter-session there were several '46'S. Bob Shade, station manager for DBS this year, and Fred'Wilmot found that there was something about the Lake Morey Inn that kept drawing them back Charlie French recently became engaged to Bea Home Graham Brush was seen heading for Greenwich, Conn., frequently during the term. Graham is secretary of the Inter-fraternity Council as well as being a member of Palaeopitus Harlan Brumsted putting in some long days over at the DOC. Brummy is chairman for next year's Winter Carnival Whitey Campbell managed to play a lot of golf during the summer, but took each weekend off to see his fiance, Sal Straw Others on campus were Don Furber, Bill Field, FredWightman, John Wolff, Art O'Hara and GeneLucey.

Of course the large majority of '46's are still enjoying this summer recess as this article is being written. We don't have all the information we'd like to have on the various members of the class, but here are a few more items relative to fellow classmates. Reg Pierce and WaltSnickenberger stranded out in Yellowstone National Park after old faithful "Mehitabel" finally broke down—but good! .... Don Hutchinson and Hugh MacNamee doing well at Columbia Med. School Ed Scheu a member of the crew of "The Morning Star VI" that recently sailed from Boston to the South Pacific Islands delivering Bibles to the natives.

.... Demi Castillo working in the sugar business in Cuba Dave Weld and: John Steele traveling up the Alcan Highway to Alaska. The last word we'd heard of them was that they were very much pleased with the Canadian women and rather surprised to find a dog in Montana with a gold tooth BudWingate is working for his dad this summer out there in Minnesota, but finding a little time to work in a few sailboat races and a little of that good Minneapolis beer. Bud returns to Tuck School this Fall Word comes through Bill Spoor that Martin"Goose" Brusse will be married to B. A. Chely out in Denver this month.

This just about winds things up for this month, but we'll be back again in a few weeks, so let's try to get a little more information in about yourselves and other '46's that you know about.
