Earl Daurn has just been given a promotion in the General Motors Export Corporation. After climbing the ladder with service in Africa and India, in 1943 he was brought back to this country and given an important position in the home office in New York. This fall he was appointed managing director of the General Motors subsidiary for the Scandinavian countries with headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden A distinguished honor has just been bestowed upon Jim Kirkbright, who is one of New York's outstanding surgeons specializing in ear, nose and throat work. Jim lives with his family in Bronxville. The American College of Surgeons, at a meeting in New York this fall, elected him a fellow of the Association Johnny Dregge's picture appeared in the Grand Rapids newspaper recently with an announcement that he has been appointed general chairman of the Community Chest drive Doris and Doug Craig have just returned from a week's trip to Canada. They stopped at Montreal and attended an actuarial convention in Quebec. Returning through Hanover they had a short visit with Dot Strong
Don Coyle reports that he saw Ray Shane in Idaho Falls, Idaho, last spring. Ray is a consulting engineer and lives in this far-away city with his wife and two daughters
Bill Buettner's son has transferred from the University of Massachusetts to Dartmouth and is now a junior, having entered in that class in September Congratulations to Mike Watkins who has just had a fine promotion. He was recently made assistant general manager of sales for the entire Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and has moved with his family to Youngstown, Ohio.

Stan Lonsdale was elected president of the Connecticut State Association of Life Underwriters at a meeting held sometime last June. Congratulations Stan Beattie and JeffAdams reported a date made many weeks ago which prevents them from joining the class officers over the Penn-game weekend.
Dr. and Mrs. Roily Bates visited Hanover this summer with their son. It looks like another prospect for Dartmouth Another visitor to Hanover this summer was RudolfK. Haerle and his wife from Indianapolis. .... Rus Treadway has recently taken a financial position with the brokerage firm of Ball, Burge & Kraus in Cleveland.
Alex Gibson, who is an instructor in French at Phillips Academy in Andover, wrote recently: "I had the pleasure of seeing Ed Moran and his family twice during the last school year, as he drove up to see his son, Ed, who is a student here at Andover. Ed is a judge in Norwich, Connecticut. One evening, my wife and I had a Dartmouth session with Ed, Jr., Lloyd Braces's two sons, and Nate Parker, Jr. as our guests I saw Ted Goddard and his wife several times this summer. Their daughter, Marion, attended the Northampton School, where I teach during the summer months. Marion and her sister, Carol, were members of a party of Northampton School students whom I conducted on a tour of French-Canada, visiting Montreal, Quebec, and the Saguenay. I also had a chat with RayColodny in Northampton. Ray has recently sold his haberdashery business there and has gone into real estate, I believe. He reported having seen Art Sprague in June. The latter, who is a lawyer in Illinois, was in Northampton to attend the graduation of his daughter from Smith My daughter, Barbara, enters Abbot this fall, and Sandy is now in the fifth grade. My wife will be teaching at the Pike School here in town this year. I shall keep out of mischief by serving as Modern Language Reviewer for the Independent School Bulletin, Business Manager of the New England Modern Language Association, and Chairman of the School Activities Commission of the Mount Hermon Alumni Association."
The Manchester newspaper recently carried a picture of Ken Davis with this notation: "Kenneth W. Davis, prominent local insuranceman, has been portraying eccentric character roles for many years in local plays and skits and assumes one of his most hilarious roles as Appopoulous in a forthcoming production, 'My Sister Eileen.'" President Dickey and his wife stopped off in Albert Lea, Minnesota for a visit with the Morins about a year ago. Dick said they spent quite some time duck hunting.
