OBSERVING THE nation-wide "Dartmouth Night" on Oct. 10, the Dartmouth Club of the Mohawk Valley met at the Fort Schuyler Club, Utica, for a dinner meeting.
Charles DeAngelis 'OB spoke on the "Good Old Days." Delving deep into the history of the "Sweat-shirt era," Charlie named many of the early coaches and described their psychological and strategic methods. Considering that Jim Capps 'l9 and Dr. Jim Douglas '23, aided and abetted by Roland Chesley 'OB, had involved Charlie in quite a hot pre-meeting debate of political issues, it was remarkable that the former Big Green end had enough stamina left to carry on with his interesting and detailed description. DeAngelis spoke intimately of Dr. Tucker; Hoppy, who was then secretary; and Coaches Folsom, Cannell, Cavanaugh, Hawley and many others.
Jim Brown '23, president, read cards from J. J. Ingraham, of Dolgeville, father of E.Clarke Ingraham 'l9 and grandfather of E. C.Ingraham Jr. '43. Mr. Ingraham said his boys regretted not being able to attend. The Lt. Commander ('19) is still in service and Junior is with the State Dept., at Cochabamba, Bolivia, S.A. Bill Quinn '27, Utica, reported ill, and Marsh Land '38, Rome, had a previous commitment.
Capps suggested that an attempt to have a joint golfing party here with the Syracuse Club members be organized for June. Brown directed the May and June program dates be interchanged so that this could be arranged. Brown confirmed that the Nov. meeting will be a Dartmouth grid game broadcast attended at his house. The wives will join the members at the Yahnundasis in the evening for dinner.
Your secretary read a list of the members who were not present. It was resolved that those present would make an attempt to write or see these men before the next meeting. Names, addresses, and phone numbers presented by the secretary were distributed among the various men accepting the commission. Joe Kyser '32 recorded the names. The secretary gave the Dartmouth Spirit.
William R. Hayes '40, RDi, Trenton Rd., was introduced as a new member. RussellMurdock '37, Hamilton, resumed association with the club.
Chief Brown read a copy of the telegram that had been sent from the club to the undergraduate body at Dartmouth, an annual event in keeping with the tradition.
Those attending were DeAngelis, Brown, Chesley, Kyser, Capps. Douglas, Murdock, and Hayes, already mentioned. Also, E. Spencer Liberty '29, Gil Hurd '41, Al Lyon '22, Ron Olmstead '32, and Boutilier '38.
